Lost all day

-"You should wipe that mud off your leg."
-"But honey, it's mud from the orchid station!"

Today we took an 8 hour tour (in a Hummer) focusing on filming locations for the TV show "Lost."  The 10 hour tour was all booked up.  :)
It was actually a great way to see all of Oahu, since this is the one island where we don't have a car.  The tour took us almost entirely around the coast, and we saw some amazing sights.  We also stopped at the Dole pineapple plant and had delicious pineapple ice cream.  Yum!
We saw a ton of "Lost" locations, including:

-The orchid station (we went inside!)
-The temple
-Penny's boat
-The beach where they set up camp
-The beach where they crashed
-The polar bear cages
-The radio tower
-The shrimp stand where Sawyer killed the wrong guy (we ate lunch there!)
-The "others" camp
-The waterfall where Kate found the briefcase

Very cool.  The shrimp stand looks a little different because the owner used the $15,000 the producers paid (!) to expand.  The "others" camp is actually a YMCA camp.  You can only imagine how much it got paid for all of the filming done there.
A lot of the sets are already falling apart.  Most of the orchid station is made of styrofoam and PVC pipe.  It (along with the cages, the temple, and some other sets) are in an old, abandoned park in the jungle that closed almost 20 years ago.  It was cool walking through it, but it was loaded with mosquitoes.  Nat got a ton of bites.  I didn't get any.
